Sarah & Ben Photography

the first day of fall, and a contest!

There are very few things Ben sets his foot down about, which is part of the reason he is so incredibly easy to be around. All day shopping at the outlets for the perfect dress? He’s down. Marathon of cheesy romantic comedies just because? Don’t even have to twist his arm. However, my easy-going, go-with-the-flow husband has very deeply-rooted feelings about the rushing of holidays and seasons. Halloween costumes out before it’s even September? He loudly sighs. Christmas trees in Target in October? There may be a mini-rant. And as these things get earlier every year, his annoyance only grows.

Truth be told, I am right there with him. I think time goes by quickly enough that it makes absolutely no sense to rush it even more. (Come on, guys, let me finish scarfing down my Fourth of July cheeseburger before we’re rushing into trees and tinsel). However, my love of all things pumpkin supersedes any moral issues I have on this matter (or really any matter). You want to bring out pumpkin pie in August and call it Thanksgiving? I’M DOWN.

So, when Starbucks announced this year that the PSL (I am hoping if we are meant to be friends you are aware this stands for pumpkin spice latte) was coming early this year, I could have sworn I heard angels singing! No more waiting, the pumpkin gods were spreading their wealth of orangey goodness early! However, the other half of my household did not agree. He argued that it was August, and 92 degrees in Tampa, and how could anyone possibly think it was time to feel Fall-ish when you couldn’t even step outside  in anything with the hint of a sleeve. And so, out of respect of all the dresses that have been shopped for and the chick-flicks watched, I boarded the anti-rush bandwagon, with the promise of waiting until it “felt” like Fall.

Well friends, today, there can be no more argument that the season isn’t here. This morning, smack-dab in the middle of the Tuesday square of my calendar, the reason for pumpkin season was delivered. It is FINALLY the first day of Fall. And even if it is still 90 degrees outside and there are no leaves of any color within a 100 mile radius, who am I to go against the Gregorian Calendar?

In honor of the EPIC day that today is (and the fact that I have already rushed out to get our first round of Starbucks pumpkinny goodness!) we want to gift you guys with the same joy! And what brings more joy than FREE stuff?! (Maybe puppies, but we don’t have any of those to give away.)

I am excited for the weather to finally cool down and for the Food and Wine Festival at Disney!

I, too, share in your borderline psychotic obsessive love for all things pumpkin!! The cafe where I work makes a dessert called “pumpkin crunch”, and it is the sole reason I will not fit into my dress in January. 😉 One of the things I love most about fall is how easy decision making becomes. Put the word pumpkin on anything and there isnt any decision to be made. Add any form of cheese and Im in heaven. Pumpkin cheesecake? To die for!
I also enjoy being able to finally do outdoor things without having a heat stroke. Walks, bike rides, park picnics, ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS!!! 🙂 <3

Fall is the much needed break from the outrageous heat! That is a big plus in my book, but I cannot wait until we finally see families again walking around the neighborhood and the kiddos playing outside. So here is to decent Vegas weather, playtime, and lots of fall decor!

Of course Katie shares your passionate love affair with PSL’s, because you two are cut from the same crazy colored cloth, but what we’re excited about this Fall is seeing your lovely faces in 4 MONTHS. Oh… and getting married. That’s pretty awesome too.

  20. Andy Webb says:
