Happy Friday friends! Today I am so very excited to share the first part of our house update on the blog. A while back I posted this picture on Instagram:
And a lot of people commented about seeing it when it was complete.
Well, I finally filled the last picture frame today and our hallway revamp is now done! I absolutely LOVE how it came out (especially that stripey wall which Ben gets tons of credit for) and it has made our house feel so much more homey and “us”.
So, without further ado, I give you the first part of our house update : )
The centerpiece of the hallway is this awesome Ikea cabinet turned credenza. We bought this unfinished piece from Ikea:
And after sanding and painting it white, we purchased these awesome things called Overlays that are made specifically for Ikea pieces.
We ordered the Xandra pattern and spray painted them a metallic gold (after going through two different paints to find the perfect one.)
I’m just obsessed with how this turned out, and even more in love with the fact that it wasn’t a million gillion dollars!
We of course had to frame this recent picture, taken by our bestie Ailyn , and add in a succulent or two!
This was a piece of art I made forever ago, and I am excited to finally have the perfect place to display it!
At the other end of the hall we have always had this unusual cut-out, which Ben decided would be the perfect size for some small shelves.
Weird nook turned cute family picture shrine? I THINK YES.
Stay tuned for the next part of our house update, where we are going to debut our revamped kitchen!
There is a teeny tiny spoiler in this post where you can see a bit of the new color ; )
Love + Laughs,
Sarah
Beautiful! Would you please share what brand and color spray paint you ended up using? I am having the hardest time finding exactly what I’m looking for. I love what you’ve chosen! Thanks!
Hi Maggie!
Then spray paint is Rustoleum Metallic Gold 🙂 Good luck with your project!
Your Ikea hack is fantastic! This is probably a stupid question but do you have trouble opening the drawers without pulls?
Hi Jennifer!
The drawers actually have this perfect little lip that lets you open them from the sides. They’re super easy to open 🙂
I love the color white you chose for the piece, and I am wondering what color and brand it is?
Kennedy, the paint is Behr’s Ultra Pure White. Hope that helps!
