Mornings are for coffee, sunshine… and sometimes surprise proposals that make us cry happy tears behind the camera. John and Kat’s sweet engagement at the Gizella Kopsick Arboretum was everything we love about being a St Pete proposal photographer—emotional, joyful, and just downright beautiful.
These two were visiting sunny Florida all the way from New York, and John had the best surprise up his sleeve. On a peaceful morning under the canopy of palm trees, with dappled sunlight streaming through the branches, he got down on one knee and asked Kat to spend forever with him.
And friends, it was perfect.
There were tears (from both of them), big smiles, and that kind of pure joy you can’t fake. After the big moment and a few celebratory hugs, we explored the arboretum for a few more portraits, soaking in the quiet magic of the morning. We always love getting to shoot at the Gizella Kopsick Arboretum, and this beautiful morning was no exception.
Next, we headed to the nearby pier and beach to take in some of that gorgeous St. Pete waterfront. The breeze, the soft light, and the way these two couldn’t stop smiling at each other made for some truly dreamy images. Watching them laugh and hold each other close—it was so easy to see the deep connection they share.
John and Kat, thank you for letting us be there for such a huge moment in your story. Your proposal was sweet, heartfelt, and a total honor to capture. Wishing you all the love (and sunshine!) as you head into this next chapter.
